More int’l events will boost infra

It is learnt that Goa is gearing up for the upcoming G20 meetings by ensuring well-lit streets and uninterrupted power supply.

The department has reportedly installed new smart power-saving fixtures and resolved power supply problems in order to see that no such issues arise during the meetings.

It must be said that it takes an international event like the G20 meetings in order to improve the infrastructure in the state. However only the areas around the places where the world leaders will be visiting will get a face-lift.

It may be recalled that Goa got an unprecedented face-lift during the CHOGM retreat in Goa in 1983. The infrastructure substantially improved, including the road to Dona Paula. A new road was cut through Saligao to Calangute specifically for the event and is known as the CHOGM road.

It must be said that if international events held in the state can benefit the locals as a result of infrastructural development, then Goa should play host to more such events.
