Mount Ganjem pumps on firmer concrete platforms

On Sunday July 16, the Chief Minister had inaugurated two submersible water pumps to enhance the water supply to high-lying areas in Sanquelim constituencies. On the following Tuesday due to incessant rain and increased velocity of the water current in the Ganjem bandhara, the platoon, on which the pumps were mounted, collapsed. Knowing that rains in Goa are vicious and water flow in the bandhara is treacherous, the pumps could have been mounted on concrete platforms and secured properly. Else the platoon could have been anchored firmly in the Mhadei River bed or constructed at a safer site, as suggested by the villagers. Perhaps hindsight is 20/20 but at a huge cost to the government. But this amount is peanuts as compared to new and/or renovated bridges that collapse in other States. Anyway, nature proved that the water pumps are truly of the submersible variety.

Don't stop employment exchange registration

Guaranteeing jobs to locals in the private sector is certainly not the responsibility of the state govt by any reckoning, as it is the prerogative of private companies to pick and choose candidates of their choice, and preference.
