That was a detailed Editorial, painting a grim picture of the so-called smart city work currently underway in Panaji. Judging from news reports from time to time especially during the monsoon, perhaps one cannot help the feeling that Panaji is very far from becoming a smart city in the true sense of the term. Of course, the authorities may be doing the best they can but perhaps they need to have a better understanding of what a smart city entails. They need to take various factors into account while planning and executing such smart city projects and not go overboard in their plans.
