It is really shocking to see that the heritage buildings in Margao are one by one collapsing due to poor maintenance. After urban health centre, now the famous heritage A class building of Portuguese era the Margao municipality building sees its ceiling concrete falling down. The building condition along with the videos and pictures were circulated in the social media and on the leading newspapers of Goa but neither the Margao municipality office, government of Goa, Margao MLA have taken the matter seriously. Our government only acts after the building has collapsed and deaths are reported. Our CM instead of building temples which he says were demolished during Portuguese rule 60 yrs before should attempt to repair and save the heritage buildings in Goa. The wooden window frames, walls need urgent attention and hope the government of Goa and municipality office open its naked eyes and carry out the maintenance work as soon as possible. The old files are lying in the municipal corridors wet and the file papers torn and washed out. MMC Margao fails to solve the issue and problems of Margao. Garbage mountain increasing day by day, no action on the shop owners who runs the business without a trade license, daily wages workers and LDC staff yet not made permanent in their Jobs for 15 yrs, no maintenance work of the heritage building when it has completed 118 yrs. We think Margao MLA Digambar Kamat is waiting for God to tell him to save and protect the heritage building. What's the use of BJP ruling the municipality when they don't care about the heritage building neither the safety of the people working nor those coming to building for their work.
