Road accidents continue to plague Goa, appearing as daily headlines in local newspapers. Unfortunately, many incidents go unreported, exacerbating the tragedy. Despite our awareness of road users’ rights, reckless driving persists, endangering lives without accountability. Over-speeding, drunken driving, and reckless overtaking are recurrent causes of fatal accidents, often claiming innocent lives.
While tourists contribute to road hazards with erratic driving, locals also display risky behaviours, compounding the problem. It’s imperative for every road user to prioritize safety, respecting rules and pedestrians alike. Safe driving habits, not just safety gear, can prevent tragedies. Blaming authorities is futile; individual responsibility and adherence to traffic regulations are paramount.
We mustn’t rely solely on law enforcement; personal accountability is key. Let’s cultivate safe driving habits and avoid blaming external factors for our failures.
