Stopping tradition of making Narkasur

Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Vasco recently has said that the tradition of making Narkasur on the eve of Diwali should be stopped in the State as he claims that today many youngsters do some unwanted things during these Narkasur competitions/events and sometimes, even lose their lives in Goa.  Well, the tradition of making Narkasur in the state was not started by any political party in the early eighties but it was there since our liberation days and it has been kept alive by all true-blooded Goans who still believe in communal harmony in Goa. Dhavalikar should focus on the work that needs to be really done like fixing the roads, providing people with uninterrupted power supply, housing, maintaining law and order in the state, etc. And finally, if Dhavalikar is so much concerned about the future of our Goan youth and preserving the so-called 'ancient-original' culture of this state, then he should dare to talk of stopping all the alcohol/drugs/prostitution/casino related activities which are currently being promoted in the name of wooing domestic tourists.
