Tackle Ponda’s stray cattle menace

Tackle Ponda’s stray cattle menace

In Ponda, the stray cattle menace has become a serious matter. We come across cattle proceeding along the road at different locations such as Tisk, Shantinagar, Varkhandem, Khadpabandh, Upper Bazaar and also at the old bus stand. Squatting of bovines on the road, more so, during the night is a regular phenomenon. In the past, many two-wheeler riders have either been seriously injured or have lost their lives on the spot. It is rather unfortunate that the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has been unable to assure relief to public at large by assuring favourable steps in order to restrict this menace. It is the urgent need of the hour to build cattle pounds on priority basis followed with impounding of cattle moving freely along the road. Let us hope that the higher officials at the PMC would consider this matter and initiate immediate steps to restrict stray cattle menace thereby assuring safety to innocent travellers on a permanent basis.
