Instead of fair elections, it is observed that in most constituencies, it has become a murder of democracy. Money played an important role as it was distributed to shameless people who sold their votes. A voter was caught clicking a photo of the voting machine as proof in Fatorda, while a polling agent in booth number 42 in Cuncolim was found displaying the name of the BJP candidate.
The Chief Minister reached Margao’s Moti Dongor along with MLA Digambar Kamat to gain minority votes. Nilesh Cabral targeted Catholic religious priests, claiming priests told people not to vote for the BJP, knowing that people had lost hope in him. A Panaji voter claims her ink on the finger disappeared after washing her hands.
The Election Commission and Chief Electoral Officer were not serious enough to tackle the situation. It seems like by hook or by crook, the BJP worked very hard to ensure they win both seats in Goa and suppress all opposition parties.
In Mapusa, BJP has already set off firecrackers, claiming the BJP candidate from North Goa won the election, even though the counting day is on June 4th.
