It would have really been great news if a person of Indian origin could have been sworn in as a British Prime minister, 75 years after the end of colonial rule in India.
Rishi Sunak who is British, except for his Indian roots is the candidate of highest caliber nobody will have doubt about but is unlikely to win the race, as Shashi Tharoor MP once said no one should underestimate the lingering racism of the general British public.
I believe it is not an illogical conclusion, as Tharoor brings in comparative perception when Sonia Gandhi as Prime minister was opposed tooth and nail by certain political parties but the same people showered praises when our root Indians like Kamala Harris became Vice President of America and not forgetting the Portuguese Prime minister of Indian Orgin.
This perception should change when we Indians treat or differentiate on the basis of caste, creed and religion.
