It was sad to witness the loss of property in the Vasco market tragedy. The BJP is attempting to portray the opposition’s demands as politics and drama. The BJP would not have spared the INC and would have wreaked havoc while demanding resignations. The BJP’s coordinated efforts to manufacture narratives are well known. News posts appear to be circulated in groups, prompting coordinated, abusive and unoriginal comments against the opposition. Paid bots are a different topic! Such tactics do work on online users, demoralising some while bolstering the BJP’s perceived support. It’s insensitive to attack Congress leaders after a tragedy that occurred under the BJP’s watch at all levels of government. The BJP, the MLAs and the municipality must be held accountable. It’s good that Damu Naik, who holds no government post, visited the site to take ownership of the tragedy on behalf of the BJP. They can start by compensating the victims.
