Insuring lives and properties for others is KhairooKhavtay’s profession and she’s good at it. Her million dollar profession hasearned thousands of friends for whom this gutsy woman provides troubleshootingservices in their time of need. “I am a people’s person,” Khairoo admits. Khavtay has been offeringthat extra cover for live and properties and educating people to take care oftheir health for the past two decades.
For Khairoo, the career as an LIC agent kick started 20years ago, in 1992. She entered into this profession by mere chance but shemade the best of this opportunity to excel in this male dominated field. “I ama people’s person and I love to go out of my way to help others,” says Khairoowho has been breaking all previous records when it comes to making policies andcovering lives, health and properties.
Her dynamism was translated into the multiplication of herbusiness in Goa in the first year of her joining the LIC. “In 1993, a yearafter I joined LIC, I procured business of one crore. It was just after mygetting married,” she recalls. Being from different family backgrounds, theAndanis and Khavtays blended with the multiplication of their friends andrelatives, which could be the trade secret of this made-for-each-other couple.
“My success lies in my positivity,” she shares. When quizzedmore on her success she says that her biggest asset is her relationship withher clients whom she treats like family. Widely travelled, Khairoo has friendsall over, who long to have chats and get-togethers. “Attending yearly MDRTmeets in the United States is a fun activity and a learning experience. I getto learn business techniques and also to share my own experiences with theworld’s top business communities,” she shares.
At her office in Taleigao, Khairoo works with her team offive. It has been a steady and long journey for her with more than 1800policies to her credit. Her clients admire her cheerful nature and have faithin her multi-tasking abilities. Her long cherished dream is to start an old agehome where old citizens as well as stray dogs are taken care of. “That is whenI retire,” she announces, calling it a hectic day at work and office as sheproceeds to her cosy home where her family eagerly awaits her arrival.
