Lt (Dr) Abhida Barretto, who has topped Goa State NEET-2021, has joined Indian Army as a Lieutenant and has chosen Jammu for her internship.
Hailing from Sadolxem, a small hamlet on the banks of river Talpona in Canacona, Barretto after emerging as the Goa state topper in NEET 2021 chose Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) to fulfill her dreams.
Driven by a spirit of service, Abhida Barretto has successfully completed her MBBS from AFMC, Pune to serve the nation to the best of her abilities and has been commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army, she has chosen Jammu for her internship.
At the recently held convocation at AFMC Lt Abhida Barretto has been awarded Maj Gen NDP Karani Trophy – the Second-Best Outgoing Student of Graduate Wing in academics and extracurricular activities, 2025, and also, she is a proud achiever of AFMC Gold medal: Anatomy, Physiology, Pediatrics, Medicine. Distinction in 13/14 MBBS subjects with overall highest marks in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year.
She had also represented MUHS (university) in athletics, had won in various intercollegiate sprinting and relay events, was captain of girls football team, and had multiple podium finishes in various full and half marathons in Pune.
