Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho visited the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Multi Skills Training Institute at Kandivali, Mumbai, to study its industry‑driven skilling ecosystem and examine possibilities of adapting the model for Goa.

The visit showcased innovative approaches that bridge education and employment, creating a workforce aligned with industry needs.

CII presented its comprehensive framework of skill development through industry partnerships, career centres, multi‑skills institutes, and employment‑linked training programmes.

Godinho was briefed on demand‑driven training modules, international mobility pathways, and sector‑specific programmes in hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, and emerging technologies.

The institute’s blend of classroom learning and hands‑on industry exposure has delivered high placement rates and improved retention, giving a glimpse of what industry‑led skilling can achieve.

The Minister hailed CII’s efforts in building a robust ecosystem that meets evolving workforce requirements and highlighted the importance of aptitude assessment, career counselling, and job‑based training to ensure youth acquire skills relevant to the job market requirements.

Godinho also discussed with the CII team there on focusing on training in high‑growth areas such as digital technologies, animation, gaming, hospitality, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.

CII proposed integrated skill centres, career hubs, and international mobility platforms to prepare Goan youth for domestic as well as global opportunities, particularly in hospitality, maritime, logistics, and manufacturing.

The delegation explored leveraging government infrastructure and unused institutional spaces in Goa to establish modern skilling centres that could serve as hubs for employment, entrepreneurship, and international placements.

Godinho shared ongoing initiatives in garment manufacturing, handicrafts, and indigenous products, and expressed interest in collaborating with CII to strengthen these through industry expertise, design support, and market linkages.

Building a globally competitive skilling ecosystem through collaboration between the Goa government and CII was also discussed.
