Christmas is a season to experience joy and it is also about sharing happiness with others. People have ways to express joy and to share it with others “ some do it through decorating their homes and others do it through charity. There are still others, who enjoy creating something beautiful with their hands, to gift someone. Reena Bino is one of them. Every festive season Reena comes out with innovative ideas to surprise her near and dear ones, as also her team of friends and clients who look forward to her wonderful handcrafted, hand-knitted artwork, to, either decorate their own homes or to gift someone they love.
“For this festive season my brand, Nivita Knits, has knitted doilies, hand knitted doily baskets, frames with hand knitted doilies, hand knitted snowflakes, table runners and hand knitted earrings keeping in mind the Christmas colours. All the lace knitted products are hand knitted by me with set of five double pointed needles with cotton and silk thread,” shares Reena, a homemaker in Margao whose hand-knitted products including sky lanterns (akashkandils) and rangoli patterns during Diwali 2018 were an attraction on the doors of many homes in Goa. “That was the first time I tried to knit sky lanterns (akashkandils) and it was a very welcoming idea which received tremendous response through my Facebook page,” quips Reena who has cashed on a similar theme and created knitted stars for the Christmas.
“The response from people across the globe was awesome and I received a lot of appreciation and positive feedback. I got customized orders too, where people requested for particular colours, themes, or designs. There are still many art lovers out there who still love to buy handmade,” smiles Reena whose hand-knitted products have demand across Goa. She catered to orders outside the state too and her unique products have even travelled across the seas to adorn homes in Kuwait, Dubai, US, Australia, Finland, and Bangkok where people celebrate Christmas.
