When people set out to collectively achieve -- withabsolutely no self-interest -- the government quakes. On December 22 as lakhsof people blocked Vijay Chowk and laid siege near the Rashtrapati Bhavan, todemand justice for the 23-year-old gang rape victim, every true Indian criedwithin and every woman saw her own self as a daily victim of sexual abuse in alawless and heartless city that our national capital has become.
This wasn’t a political party, a social group or even avested interest lobby. This was one cosmos of angry and hurt Indians, standingagainst its government and tell it, “NO MORE”. The government typically went bythe manual to deal with this. It warned, it tear gassed and it lathi-charged.But the nation didn’t care for superficial wounds as more joined the ranks ofprotestors. The pent up anger of every girl and her dear ones including husbands,brothers and friends, of years spilled on the most important avenues of thecountry. The government of India needs to understand India when it says, “NOMORE”.
