When Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant squarely blamed the Congress for the death of tribal youth Manguesh Gaonkar and Dilip Velip in the 2011 Balli agitation, little did he realise that the Congress government was headed by none other than Chief Minister, Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Digambarbab Kamat. The CM further charged the then Congress government for its inept handling of the law and order situation at Balli, when someone was heard asking whether it was Ravibab Naik who then presided over the Home portfolio. It’s a sheer coincidence the Digambar-Ravi duo is now part and parcel of the BJP dispensation. Any questions?
All eyes on Vijai’s decision, support in Lok Sabha polls
Many a question did the rounds in political circles after Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai called on Congress Goa in-charge, Manikrao Thakare during the weekend. One, the meeting assumes significance given that the regional outfit is not officially a part of the INDIA bloc. Vijaibab’s opposition to re-nomination of MP Francisbab Sardinha is an open secret, but the question that has remained unanswered whether he has suggested his choice of candidate to Thakare for South Goa. And, whether he would join the campaign for the Congress candidate or work separately for the opposition candidate. Any questions?
Mind game? Suggestions to unveil Cong nominee after BJP nomination
If the BJP postponed a decision on the party candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat on the plea the party is weighing the option of fielding a woman candidate, don’t expect the Congress leaders to rush with the party candidate for South Goa. In fact, call it a mind game or simply a part of strategy, suggestions have been made to party Goa Desk in-charge, Manikrao Thakare from many quarters to convey to the High Command to withhold a decision and unveil the candidate only after the BJP declares its candidate for South Goa. Wait and watch.
Nyay Yatra: Elvis’ movements under Cong leadership radar
Could anyone shed light on the fate of Nyay Yatra announced by bureaucrat-turned-politician Elvisbab Gomes? Elvisbab along with some Congress leaders had announced plans to launch the yatra from Canacona on Monday. Nothing has been heard about the yatra leaving sources to wonder whether the yatra has been punctured and scuttled by some local leaders, who reportedly complained to the party High Command that the local leadership was not kept in the loop. A section of Congress leadership is indeed closely monitoring Elvisbab’s movements since he lost out of the ticket race for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat.
Churchill cynosure of all eyes at Digambar’s birthday bash

Guess the politician who was in the cynosure of all eyes at the 70th birthday celebrations of Congress-turned-BJP MLA Digambar Kamat? Well, Varca strongman Bab Churchill along with son Savio descended at Malbhat to greet Diggu on his birthday. CM Pramod Sawant and his Cabinet colleagues seemed pleased with Churchillbab’s gesture. Diggu’s well-wishers swarming the venue, however, were taken aback over Churchillbab’s presence. For, the former PWD Minister never stopped blaming Diggu for his electoral defeat in 2012 and in the 2022 elections. Pose a question to Churchillbab on his current equation with Diggu and don’t be surprised to hear a reply that there are no permanent enemies and friends in politics. Any takers?
