FM Nitish finishes ninth at nat junior chess c'ship

FM Nitish Belurkar of Goa finished ninth at National Junior Online Chess Championship 2021. 

According to Goa Chess Association, the Goan player won the first four games and was in a strong position to win the fifth game against IM Aronyak Ghosh. However, a disruption in internet services put off Nitish and he lost from a winning position. Nitish then won the last four games to end with 8 points with 8 wins to secure the ninth spot. Rahul VS of Tamil Nadu emerged as the winner.

The other Goan players in the fray were Ayush Shirodkar and  Joy Kakodkar. Ayush finished 44th with 6.5 points while Joy ended in 95th spot with 5.5 points.

Nitish is a student of SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics and is a Geno Pharmaceuticals brand ambassador.
