PANAJI: The Goa team suffered a 236-run defeat at the hands of Baroda in the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy Elite (Under-23, four-day match) Group A match, played at the GCA ground in Sanguem.
Baroda had scored 298 runs in their first innings. In reply, Goa managed 252 runs. Baroda then declared their second innings at 330 for 9, setting Goa a target of 377 runs.
To earn points from a drawn match, Goa needed to stay at the crease. However, Goa's second innings ended at 140 runs in 49 overs. Resuming their second innings from 224 for 6, Baroda added some valuable runs. Raj Limbani remained not out on 64 of just 55 balls. For Goa, Yash Kasvankar, Anuj Yadav, and Lakhmesh Pawne took two wickets each, while Manish Kakode claimed one wicket. Goa's next match will be played on January 30 at the GCA ground in Sanguem.
