MARGAO: Navelim Villagers Union secured their spot in the finals of the 25th All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter village football tournament, organised by Sirlim Sports Club, by defeating Dramapur Sports Club 3-1 at the Chinchinim Church ground.
The match began with both teams playing an aggressive and fast-paced game. Navelim took the lead in the 24th minute with a well-placed shot by Valinton D'silva, making it 1-0. Rovan Pereira extended Navelim's lead to 2-0 in the 29th minute, which remained the scoreline at halftime.
In the second half, Navelim scored their third goal in the 47th minute, giving them a commanding 3-0 lead. Despite Dramapur's efforts, they could only manage to reduce the deficit to 3-1 through a goal by the hard-working Chadel Fernandes. Navelim's Ronaldo Pereira received a yellow card during the match.
The second semi-final will see Ambelim Sports Club face off against Fr Agnel Youth Club Paroda on August 12.
