PERNEM
One official was also rebuked by Azgaonkar for attending to a phone call during the inspection.
Ajgaonkar and RDA Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar inspected the bus stand at Pernem, which is yet to be completed despite its inauguration in December 2016.
Unhappy over the slow pace of construction work, Ajgaonkar became furious and lashed out out at the officers concerned.
Speaking to reporters, Azgaonkar said: “The bus stand was hurriedly inaugurated despite being incomplete just to display names on the plaque. Pednekars are unhappy as work on the bus stand is still incomplete seven months after it was inaugurated,” he added.
To make matters worse for the officials, one GSIDC officer had to face Azgaonkar’s fury when he received a phone call midway during the inspection.
Ajgaonkar bluntly told the officer to avoid attending to personal calls while he was interacting with officials. The embarrassed officer then quickly disconnected
the call.
The Minister then directed the officers to submit a detailed report on the new bus stand before Wednesday.
Those present at the site inspection included Pernem Municipal Council (PMC) chairperson Usha Nagvekar, PMC vice-chairperson Deepak Mandrekar, officials from the GSIDC, transport, KTC, former chairperson Dr Vasudev Deshprabhu
and councillors.
