Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda blanked United Club Nerul 3-0 to move into the quarterfinals of the Custodio Memorial Trophy football tournament, organised by Raia Sporting Club at Raia Village Panchayat ground on Sunday.
Sanket Jatkar gave his best for Nerul while Francis Andrade was at the forefront for Don Bosco with his tricky moves. In the second minute itself, Sanket should have found the net but his shot flew over the Don Bosco crossbar.
In the 12th minute, Francis Andrade of Don Bosco sent two long balls to Clencio Pinto but the latter failed to score on both occasions. In the 29th minute, Clencio took control of a ball from Francis Andrade and sent a powerful shot into the Nerul goal.
In the second half, Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda went all guns blazing and netted two more goals through Francis Andrade and Clencio Pinto, who scored in the 37th and 57th minutes respectively.
Donvodem Veterans blank Bardez to reach QFs
Donvodem Veterans edged past Bardez Veterans 2-0 and moved into the quarterfinals of 1st Our Lady of Fatima Sports Club Veterans Cup 2022 organised by Our Lady of Fatima Sports Club, Baida-Chinchinim at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim on Sunday.
In the 12th minute, Santano Furtado of Donvodem Veterans opened the scoreline. Ten minutes later, Santano Furtado doubled the lead for Donvodem. In the second half, Bardez Veterans amped up their game in search of goals but failed to breach the rival citadel. Shailesh Miskin of Bardez Veterans was named as the Man of the match.
