S.S. Dempo College, Cujira and Government College, Khandola secured comfortable wins on day 17 of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Cricket Men Championship 2024-25
In the first match of the day, S.S. Dempo College, Cujira delivered a commanding performance against P.E.S College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi, securing a resounding 126-run victory.
P.E.S College of Pharmacy won the toss and elected to field, a decision they would soon regret. S.S. Dempo College's batting lineup exploded, posting a formidable total of 214/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Aryan Mashelkar played an outstanding unbeaten innings of 104 runs off just 52 balls, including a flurry of boundaries. Viraj Chari provided excellent support with a quickfire 54 off 28 deliveries. For P.E.S College of Pharmacy, Aniruddh Naik managed to pick up 2 wickets for 34 runs, while Nikhil Shinde took 1 wicket for 53 runs.
Chasing a daunting target, P.E.S College of Pharmacy crumbled under pressure, managing only 88 runs all out in 19 overs. Harsh Vandekar (26 off 38) and Anirudh Naik (15 off 12) were the only batsmen to reach double figures. S.S. Dempo College's bowlers were relentless, with Suraj Patil taking 3 wickets for a mere 9 runs and Abhinandan Thakur also claiming 3 wickets for 17 runs. Aryan Mashelkar's superb unbeaten century earned him the Man of the Match award.
The second match saw Government College, Khandola triumph over VVM’s Shree Damodar College, Margao by 74 runs.
Government College, Khandola won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 163/9 in their 20 overs. Sarvesh Sawant played a brilliant unbeaten innings of 66 runs off 40 balls, anchoring the innings and accelerating towards the end. Vrushab Gaude contributed a valuable 34 runs off 26 balls. For VVM’s Shree Damodar College, Rohan Naik picked up 3 wickets for 50 runs, and Badal Naik took 2 wickets for 15 runs.
In response, VVM’s Shree Damodar College struggled to build momentum and were eventually bowled out for 89 runs in 16.2 overs. Sharv Lotlikar (13 off 10) and Om Naik (10 off 18) were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Tanish Kadekar (2/17) and Parth Kosambe (2/18) were the pick of the bowlers for Government College.
Sarvesh Sawant's match-winning unbeaten half-century secured him the Man of the Match award.
