Stamina CC from Betim triumphed over Goa Sports Academy (GSA) by 34 runs in a hard-fought encounter, while Lapaz cruised to a dominant 101-run victory over National CC Mapusa to enter the quarterfinals of the 3rd Chandrakant Karapurkar Trophy cricket tournament. The matches were played at the SAG Fatorda ground on Sunday.
In the morning match, Stamina CC won the toss and opted to bat first. They maintained a steady run rate, reaching 10 runs per over until the 11th over. However, GSA fought back strongly and managed to restrict Stamina to 167 for 7 in 18 overs. Pramod Naik was the top scorer for Stamina with 40 runs, while Sarvesh Sawant and N Nagarkar contributed with 30 runs each. Abhinandan Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for GSA, claiming 2 wickets for 33 runs.
Chasing 168, GSA started strongly, scoring 66 runs in the first 6 overs. However, they lost their first wicket when Narayan Gawas was dismissed for 43. Following that, a brilliant spell from Arjun Morajkar, who took 5 wickets for 24 runs, led to GSA's downfall as they were bundled out for 132.
In the afternoon match, Lapaz put on a commanding performance, thrashing National CC by 101 runs.
Batting first, Lapaz posted a challenging total of 189 for 8 in 20 overs. Amey Dhamsekar played a blistering knock of 60 runs, while Saurav Kaundlass (29) and veteran Sher Bahadur Yadav (26) provided solid support. Manas Raikar was the best bowler for National, picking up 2 wickets for 21 runs.
National CC's chase never got off the ground as the spin magic of Sher Bahadur Yadav, who claimed 3 wickets for 15 runs, proved too much for them. National were bowled out for a paltry 88, handing Lapaz an easy win.
