PANAJI
Goa's young swimmers Sourabhi Sushant Naik and Purvi Ritesh Naik bought laurels to the state by winning multiple medals at the Asmita Khelo India Junior Women's Series Round 2 (Zone 2) held at Tilak Tank, Deccan Gymkhana, Pune on 22 and 23 March 2025.
Zone 2 consisted of 4 states - Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan and the union territory of Daman and Diu.
Sourabhi won three medals (2 gold and 1 silver) in Under-18 girls category while Purvi bagged two medals (2 bronze) in Under-15 girls category.
While Sourabhi finished first in 100 metres freestyle and 200 metres freestyle and second in 400 metres freestyle event, Purvi finished third in 200 metres freestyle and 400 metres freestyle event.
Both Sourabhi and Purvi are training at the Khelo India State excellence Centre in Goa under head Coach Sujith T A and are greatly supported and encouraged by Khelo India program director Sumith M R.
This was the first time both the girls had participated in the Khelo India Junior Women's series bringing laurels to state of Goa.
