Warren Alemao will organise a football summer camp for children between ages 10 and 17 for boys and girls at Benaulim from May 1 to 15.
The sessions will be planned and conducted by Roberto Fernandes, who is an AFC-licensed coach. Micky Fernandes, former India player and head coach of Vasco Sports Club, Valanka Dsouza, D-License coach, Sandeep Naik, goalkeeping coach will also provide training.
This camp will provide an opportunity forthe kids to hone their skills and progress in their journey in football. Addressing media persons during a news conference held at Carmona, Alemao stressed the need to get the youth of today out of their houses where they are stuck all day with computer games and electronic equipment.
"Being stuck at home without physical activity has led to mental stress and various ailments. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind,” said Warren, who himself is a fitness freak.
Speaking further, he said that the SAG ground at Benaulim is of International standard. "Send your children without fear of being injured. They will gain from this exposure. It’s important for the youth to meet their neighbours, fellow villagers and the community to engage in healthy sports competitions at least during the holidays of summer months," said Warren.
Warren mentioned that the football camp was dedicated to his close friend Jaju Fernandes, who passed away recently. "Jaju was a football-crazy person who helped anyone wanting to train in football. This camp is purely targeted at training the youngsters “ Boys: 10 to 13 years & 14 to 17 years, Girls: 10 to 17 years.“
A nutritious, football-suitable breakfast will be provided to the participants after each session, Warren informed. "There will also be a motivational talk each day from various persons. Send your children to avail of this innovative programme," Warren added.
