MARGAO: Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club edged past Sao Jose de Areal 3-2 to book their berth in the semifinals of the 49th Chandor Seamen Football tournament, at Chandor ground.
An attempt from Paroda's Ashwan was caught by the Areal Custodian but slipped from his hands and Omkar Gaonkar lost no time to chip it into the net in the 17th minute giving Fr Agnelo SC a booster. Nelson Fernandes capitalised from a swift pass from compatriot to score the second goal for Paroda in the 22nd minute.
Sao Jose de Areal earned a penalty off a handball and Darryl Costa was on target.
Post resumption, Agnelo Boys were desperately looking for parity but were disappointed when Melson Fernandes completed his brace for Fr Agnelo in the 37th minute. Agnelo Boys kept up the tempo and were trying to solidify their lead, when Raymond of Areal took a power packed shot which was neatly placed the ball into the Paroda goal hoodwinking their keeper to take the tally to 2-3.Melson Fernandes of Paroda won the Man of the Match award.
