Gaonkar wins first Goa Duathlon

Vinayak Gaonkar of Navelim won the first edition of the Probyk Goa Duathlon held at the SP Mukherjee stadium at Bambolim on April 2.

A total of 58 participants took part in this event which was held to promote Autism Awareness Day and required athletes to complete a combination of 5km run-20km cyling-2.5 km run back to back. Vinayak Gaonkar clocked 1 hour, 6 minutes, 42 seconds to win the event followed by Sardar Nadaf and Abhinav Wadekar in second and third place. Ironman triathlete Nisha Madgavkar came first among the women, while Satish Gavandalkar was first in the above 45 years, masters category.

Results: Open category: 1. Vinayak Gaonkar (1:06:42), 2. Sardar Nadaf (1:10:013), 3. Abhinav Wadekar (1:14:50); Women’s: 1. Nisha Madgavkar (1:27:41); Masters: 1. Satish Gavandalkar (1:23:01).

Badminton clinic held at Fatorda

PANAJI: A three-day residential clinic for Preliminary and Intermediate Badminton Coaches was held recently at Multipurpose Hall, Fatorda.
