Swapnil Mallik's fine half-century spurred Goa Police Sports Club to a 40-run victory over Albert Developers, Merces in the final of 5th Saibaba Trophy limited-overs tennis ball cricket tournament organised by Saibaba Sports Club, Kuchelim, Mapusa at Kuchelim ground, Mapusa
Batting first, Goa Police were aided by Swapnil's 51 as they posted 177 for 8 in 18 overs. Mukhtiar Kadri was the standout bowler for the opposition with figures of 2-31. Albert Developers made a hash of their chase to fold for137 all out in 13 overs with Sajay Naik (3-32), Aapali Kalangutkar (3-31), Abhijeet Talekar (3-32) sharing nine wickets among themselves. Albert Developers did offer resistance through Vishwajeet Fadte (29), Naresh Parsekar (19), Mukhtiar Kadri (16*) and Rajesh Vaigankar (16*) but it was not enough to overhaul the target set by Goa Police.
Goa Police Sports Club were awarded a cash purse of Rs 20,000 while the runners-up went home with Rs 10,000 besides the trophies. Sandeep Falari, Chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Shekhar Benkar, Councillor and Desh Kinlekar, Joint Secretary of Goa Cricket Association. Individual prizes: Best batsman - Swapnil Naik (Goa Police), Best bowler - Aapali Kalangutkar (Goa Police), Man of the final - Sanjay Naik (Goa Police).
