Betalbatim SC defeated Sao Jose de Areal SC 3-1 to move ahead in the Goa Tiger Cup 2022, organised by Goa United Sports Academy at Rosary Ground, Navelim, on Tuesday. The teams were locked 1-1 at half time.
Marcus Mascarenhas put Areal ahead in the 22nd minute but Klusner Pereira soon equalised for Betalbatim four minutes later.
In the second half, Betalbatim came all guns blazing and took the lead as Man-of-the-Match Klusner secured his brace before the hour mark with a fine finish. Ronald Coelho scored the third in the 67th minute.
In another match,PVC Parra edged past Calangute Association 6-4 via the tie-breaker at Poriat Ground, Calangute. The teams were locked 2-2 at full time.
Floyd Pereira and Joston Cardoz scored for Parra while Narmesh Kundlikar and Jonito Fernandes were on target for Calangute. Parra kept their cool in the penalty shootout.
