Salgaocar FC and FC Goa played out a goalless draw in the CAM Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Tuesday.By virtue of this result, Salgaocar FC moved to the top spot with 11 points after six games while FC Goa moved to second spot with 10 points after playing six games.
Salgaocar FC now have two draws in their six games with three wins and a defeat while FC Goa is yet to taste defeat.
The match was more of the goalkeeper’s day out as both the keepers put up a good show in the game. However, FC Goa’s custodian Hrithik Tiwari walked away with the man of the match award.
There wasn’t much action in the opening minutes though FC Goa keeper Hrithik Tiwari had to deny Mark Carvalho.
At the other end, FC Goa had their chances too where Jovial Dias saw his effort at goal being saved by the Salgaocar keeper Vishal Kumar. Later Salgaocar FC’s Shubham Shirwaikar saw one of his chances being fired wide.
FC Goa had the best chance of the game in the first half when Deeshank Kunkalikar was fed through in the midfield where he danced his way past a couple of rival defence, before trying his luck, only to see it being saved by the Salgaocar FC keeper.
In the second half, Salgaocar FC were awarded a penalty when a FC Goa player handled the ball in the area. However, Samuel Costa saw his effort being dealt with by the FC Goa custodian to keep the scores intact.
St Anthony’s SC humble Varca
PANAJI: SWC Zaino registered a narrow 2-1 win over United Club of Telaulim in the Goa Football Association Second Division League at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
At DBO Ground, Fatorda, St Anthony’s SC Assolda humbled Varca SC 13-0. Sunny Fernandes broke the deadlock for the Assolda team in the third minute and then doubled the account in the 24th minute before Valento Fernandes added the third minutes later. The winners led 3-0 at the breather.
In the second half, things went from bad to worse for Varca SC as they conceded at regular intervals. Welson Fernandes scored five while Rizban Fernandes netted a hat-trick for the winners in the second session.
