IM Ameya Audi won the 3rd Venkatesh & Sumathi Shanbhag Memorial All India FIDE Open Rapid Rating Rolling Trophy Chess tournament 2024 for the second consecutive year. Mormugao Taluka Chess Association(MTCA), under the aegis of the Goa Chess Association, successfully conducted the 3rd Venkatesh & Sumathi Shanbhag Memorial All India FIDE Open Rapid Rating Rolling Trophy Chess Tournament 2024.
IM Ameya Audi from Salcete Taluka emerged victorious in the tournament and walked away with the cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and the rolling trophy. IM Ethan Vaz again from Salcete taluka and IM Sameer Kathmale from Maharashtra secured the second and third positions, respectively.
Overall, the tournament attracted a record participation of 353 players from different states of the country out of which 118 were elo rated players with 4 International Masters and other title players who competed actively.
The tournament was organised by MTCA under the ageis of AICF at the St.Thresses High School, Mangoor Hill,Vasco Goa.
IM Ameya Audi defeated IM Sameer Kathmale in the last round and took the sole lead with 8.5 points out of 9 thus to remain unbeaten through out the tournament.
Goa’s child prodigy IM Ethan Vaz Defeated Reuben Colaco to score 8 points out of 9 to clinch the runner up Trophy.

The prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Chief Guest and sponsor . Shukant Shanbagh, MTCA president Kishor Bandekar, Secretary Mukund Kambli, Chief Arbiter IA Sanjay Kavlekar, Treasurer Pundlik Nayak and other officials and dignitaries.
