MARGAO: Maina Sports Club led 2-0 at the breather. Maina dominated the game and pushed their opponents on the back foot. Persistent forays paid dividends in the 5th minute when Joel Fernandes beat the rival goalkeeper with a neat shot. Spurred by the lead, Maina intensified their attacks and doubled the lead in the 15th minute when Velson Fernandes beat the rival goalkeeper with a rasping shot. At the other end, Rosssman Cruz were at the receiving end and failed to function as a unit. Post resumption, Maina slackened their pace and allowed their opponents to launch a barrage of attacks and Savio Fernandes scored the consolation goal in the 46th minute. The equalizer boosted the morale of Verna team as they intensified their attacks. However, rival defenders stood tall in protecting their slender lead.
