Pro League: Panjim Footballers, FC Goa in goalless draw

Panjim Footballers and FC Goa developmental side were involved in a goalless draw in the GFA Professional League at Nagoa Panchayat Sports Complex on Friday.

The match was evenly poised throughout, with both teams creating several chances. There was an even share of early exchanges but goals eluded either side. Midway in the opening session, the teams had an equal number of scoring opportunities but their forwards misfired from close range.
Crossing over, both the teams showed urgency and raided the citadel but there was still no goal. Panjim Footballers nearly broke the deadlock when striker Doyal Alves received the ball from Maximo Costa and unleashed a snapshot which was well blocked by goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari. A couple of minutes later, Panjim Footballers had a chance but Dhiraj Chauhan's rasping drive missed the target narrowly.
With time running out, FC Goa displayed an impressive performance and had two golden chances. First, Delton Colaco outpaced his marker and unleashed a shot but Panjim Footballers goalkeeper Preston Rego palmed the ball away. Later, Velroy Fernandes missed sitters as the match ended in a goalless draw.
