Parish Youth Nuvem defeated St Anthony SC of Colva 3-2 to enter into the quarterfinals of the Cana Benaulim Soccer inter-village football tournament organised by Cana Benaulim Sporting Association and played at St John de Baptista football ground, Benaulim on Monday. Jayson Dias, Schubert Borges and Francis Colaco netted a goal each for Parish Youth Nuvem. St Anthony Colva fought relentlessly and managed to score back-to-back goals through substitute Kabir Khan but fell short eventually.
Chandor Veterans ease past Mitra Veterans
Chandor Veterans defeated Mitra Veterans 3-1 to move ahead in the Pogo Boys Veterans football tournament played at Merces Church ground on Monday. Both the teams were tied goalless at the breather. Elvis scored a brace while Philip netted the other goal for Chandor Veterans. The only goal for Mitra Veterans was scored by Gennavi.
AIFF ‘D’ Licence coaching prog launched
The Goa Football Association, under the guidance of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), has officially launched its AIFF ‘D’ Licence coaching programme at the Sesa Football Academy in Sirsaim. The five-day course, led by AFC Instructor and Technical Director Gavin Araujo, saw participation from 24 aspiring coaches, including Charles Dias, the head coach of Sesa Football Academy. The non-residential course, which ran from August 5 to August 9, offered a comprehensive curriculum comprising both theoretical and practical components.
