Laziz Super Kings and Atal Setu Brigade posted wins in EMR Sarsangan Super Series Cricket.
Super Kings beat Mapusa Dream Crushers by 4 wickets with 4.4 overs to spare in the morning match. Put in to bat first, Dream Crushers were rocked by a fiery opening spell by Pradip Shetye, who removed both the openers to reduce MDC to 23-2.
Just as MDC looked set to build the innings through Pankaj Naik (19) and Kaushal Churi (30), the LSK skipper Amod Borkar got two wickets off successive deliveries to reduce MDC to 41-4. Though Yash Prabhugaonkar (12), Mehank Dharwadkar (23) and Mahesh Churi (11), tried their best, Dream Crushers folded up for 142 in 18.5 overs.
For Laziz Super Kings, the successful bowlers were Laxmikant Kurade (2-2), Pradip Shetye (2-16), Amod Borkar (2-27), Rauji Kakodkar (1-16,) Somay Naik (1-18 and: Viraj Puranik (1-28).
In reply, Laziz Super Kings made a rollicking start to reach 53-2 in 4.1 overs for the loss of Viraj Puranik 8 and Deval Karmali who blasted 40 (16 balls, 5x4s, 2x6s). Amod Borkar 35, Sahil Adwalpalkar 21 and Rauji Kakodkar 23 helped Laziz Super Kings cross the hurdle to reach 146/6 in 15.2 overs to keep alive their hopes of making it to the knockouts. For MDC, Yash Prabhugaonkar 2-30, Kaushal Churi 1-22 and Aditya Prabhugaonkar 1-23 were the successful bowlers.
Amod Borkar won the EMR Man of the Match medal and collected a pair of batting gloves from Sandip Kamat, for his all-round display for the Laziz Super Kings.
Atal Setu Brigade beat PDK Kings by 39 runs in the evening match. Put in to bat first, Atal Setu Brigade could manage 138/8 on a deceptive pitch offering good help to the spinners, thanks to Sudin Kamat 23, Sairaj Dhond 39 and Aditya Angle 30.
For the PDK Kings, left-arm orthodox spinner Animesh Prabhugaonkar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-1-15-4 with support from Aniket Timble taking 1-20.
In reply, PDK Kings were off to a flier with Anish Mahambrey (26, 17 balls, 5x4s) tearing into the ASB attack to take PDK Kings to 36 in 3.3 overs. However, his heroics didn’t last long and with only one more batter reaching double figures, Pratham Kossambe making 19, PDK Kings folded up for 99 in 18.2 overs, being the lowest total of the EMR Sarsangan Super Series.
The victory by 39 runs helped Atal Setu Brigade to improve their net run rate but PDK Kings, in the process, missed qualification for the knockout stage. For ASB, the successful bowlers were Sudin Kamat (2-18), Pratap Prabhugaonkar (2-25), Rasik Pai Khot (1-0), Arnav Phaldesai (1-2), Kapil Angle (1-14) and Aditya Angle (1-21).
Sudin Kamat won the EMR Man of the Match medal and a pair of batting gloves from Hanumant Mauzo for his brilliant all-round display for Atal Setu Brigade.
