Zaino beat Cortalim Villagers

MARGAO
SWC Zaino registered an easy 2-0 win over Cortalim villagers 2-0 to move into the semi-finals of 20th Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter-village football tournament organized by Sirlim Sports Club at Church Grounds, Chinchinim on Friday. SWC Zaino led 1-0 at half time.
Heavy downpour made life miserable for both the teams as they struggled to play positional football as the ball was getting stuck in the middle of the ground.
Zaino then made required adjustments as striker Samson Fernandes who was in the thick of action unleashed a snap shot that crashed into the net in the 10th minute.
At the other end, Cortalim Villagers blew away a golden opportunity to level the scores but their forwards frittered away from good position.
SWC had a couple of scoring chances but their forwards misfired from handshaking distance.
The second half saw Zaino enjoy better share of exchanges but their forwards were erratic after reaching the rival's danger zone. Samson Fernandes who was in the thick of action doubled the lead with a stiff grounder.
