36 cyclists complete Tri Goa’s 300km BRM

Thirty-six cyclists completed Tri Goa’s ‘State Borders’ 300km Brevets Randonneur Mondiaux (BRM) endurance cycle ride in the wee hours of Monday, in the stipulated time limit of 20 hours. 

Likewise, 15 cyclists completed Tri Goa’s Brevets Populaire 150km ride within the stipulated 10 hours. Prakash Khatri, 26, of Ponda completed the 150km ride in a very quick, 5:47 hours. 

While Adlin Mascarenhas of Camorlim was the only woman to complete the 300km ride, teenagers, Megan Fernandes of Saligao and Micha Fernandes of Aldona, completed the 150km ride.

The cyclists taking part in the 300km BRM, cycled to the State borders of Dodamarg, Mollem and Pollem before cycling along the western coastline to Dabolim airport, Old Goa and back to Panaji before the 0200 hrs cut-off on Monday to qualify for a special medal from Audax Club Paris in France.

In a press release, Rajesh Malhotra, founder, Tri Goa, said that the BRMs focussed on self-sufficiency and camaraderie among cyclists. According to Malhotra, the Tri Goa Brevet Populaire 150km ride had been organised alongside the 300km ride to give aspiring randonneurs a chance to experience the international Brevet Randonneur Mondiaux (BRM) format. 

Tri Goa is an affiliate of Audax India Randonneurs (AIR) and conducts endurance rides of 200, 300, 400, 600, 1000 and 1200kms on behalf of Audax Club Paris (ACP), France.
