Bannerman Sports Club emerged victorious over Rudreshwar Yuvak Sangh by 7 wickets in an exciting clash at the 43rd Nanda Lolayekar Trophy, sponsored by Commonwealth Developers, held at Nirakar Maidan, Dapot, Mashem.
Rudreshwar Yuvak Sangh, put to bat first, struggled to build partnerships and were bowled out for a modest total of 125 runs in 33.3 overs. Vinay Palekar (27 off 40 balls) and Zeeshan Hashmi (22 off 23 balls) were the main scorers for the side. However, they faced a disciplined bowling attack from Bannerman. Swapnil Gone was the standout bowler, claiming a brilliant 3 wickets for 16 runs in 5.3 overs, while Krishnan Unni (2/22 in 7 overs) and Faizan Saiyed (2/41 in 7 overs) also played key roles in dismantling the Rudreshwar batting lineup. Shivank Desai and Abhinav Yadav contributed with one wicket each.
In response, Bannerman Sports Club chased down the target of 126 runs with ease, finishing at 128/3 in just 15.3 overs. Atith Naik was the hero with the bat, smashing an aggressive 68 runs off 40 balls to guide his team to a comfortable victory. Other contributors included Aradhya Goyal (19* off 20), Veer Yadav (18 off 12), and Pratik Chavan (10* off 9). Despite Vinay Palekar's best efforts with the ball (2/22 in 2.3 overs) and Zeeshan Hashmi (1/34 in 4), Rudreshwar could not stop the Bannerman charge.
With the win, Bannerman Sports Club secured a place in the next round of the tournament.
Atith Naik was named man of the match for his explosive 68 runs, which helped Bannerman seal the win comfortably.
