Churchill Brothers FC have signed Debnath Mondal from ATK reserve team on a two-year deal.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper graduated from Mohun Bagan Academy and played for the team in the Under-18 I-League. From Mohun Bagan he moved to Mohamedan Sporting Club, playing in the Second Division I-League and also turning out for them in the Calcutta League in 2017. He also played for them in the IFA Shield and Sikkim Gold Cup.
In 2018, Mondal moved to ATK reserve team where he played under the guidance of coach Drago Cardozo. In 2019, he was about to make debut for the Mariners in the I-League but due to an injury, he could not find a place in the squad.
Churchill Brothers will be a new challenge for the goalkeeper as the club is all set to play in the I-League under head coach Santiago Varela as the Red Machines look to re-establish themselves as one of the best names in Indian football.
