Curtorim Gymkhana secured their place in the quarterfinals of the 49th Seamen Football Tournament after a decisive 4-2 win over Dramapur Sports Club at the Chandor grounds on Sunday.
The match began with a strong offensive from Curtorim, with Anslem Fernandes scoring the opening goal in the 11th minute. Despite a spirited effort from Dramapur, they were unable to break through Curtorim's defence, and the first half ended with Curtorim leading 1-0.
The second half saw a dramatic shift when Dramapur's Jaden Fernandes equalised in the 33rd minute, skillfully bypassing Curtorim’s defence and goalkeeper. However, with Dramapur reduced to nine men, their stamina began to wane. Curtorim’s Maldino Rodrigues took advantage of this, netting two goals in quick succession in the 41st and 43rd minutes.
Curtorim continued their offensive, and Veron Fernandes added another goal in the 54th minute, bringing the score to 4-1. Despite their exhaustion, Dramapur managed to pull one back in the 60th minute through Jaden Fernandes’s second goal, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
Jaden Fernandes was named Man of the Match for his standout performance, even as his team fell short.
