Curtorim Gymkhana reach semifinals

Curtorim Gymkhana downed a spirited Betalbatim Sports Club 2-0 and moved into the the semifinals of the 47th Chandor Seamen Rolling Trophy football tournament played at Chandor ground on Sunday.

Both teams displayed fast-paced soccer, with Betalbatim Sports Club resisting dangerous forays from the Curtorim side into their territory in the first half. The opening goal was scored in the 41st minute by Aleward Mascarenhas of Curtorim off a cross from the right wing.

The Betalbatim lads tried their best to equalise but luck did not smile on them. The second goal for Curtorim came from the boots of Maldino Rodrigues in the 61st minute as he capitalised on a pass from the flanks to beat the Betalbatim custodian.

SC Davorlim advance

Sporting Club of Davorlim blanked Fr Agnel Youth Club Paroda 2-0 and moved into the quarterfinals of the 43rd St Joseph Festival football tournament organised by Dramapur Sports Club at Dramapur ground on Sunday. Davorlim scored the first goal in the 25th minute when Agnelo Colaco's powerful shot brushed the legs of Paroda player Benzu Clement and entered the Paroda net. Davorlim inflated the lead in the 32nd minute through Agnelo who scored off Cliffton Rebello.

Guirdolim drub Goa Velha

Guirdolim Sports Club trounced Goa Velha Sports Club 4-1 to move into the quarterfinals of the Our Lady of Fatima Cup 2022 organised by Dicarpale SC at Dicarpale ground on Sunday.

Guirdolim broke the deadlock in the 11th minute through Alreach Pexito. In 30th minute, Guirdolim made it 2-0 as Alreach scored his second off a pass from Mekwin Carvalho. In the second half, Guirdolim fired two more goals through Brivon D'sa and Valentino Carvalho in the 52nd and 60th minutes respectively. Lookeendra Thapa pulled a goal back for Goa Velha in the 66th minute.

MARGAOThe GFA Charity Match left fans on the edge of their seats as Salgaocar FC edged defending Goa Pro League champions Dempo SC 4-3 on penalties to win the season opener at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Sunday.A fast-paced match was not settled in the regulation time and was decided on penalties. Salgaocar scored each of their shots to secure the win. In the penalty shootout, Samuel Costa, Saurabh Patil, Sidharth Kundaikar and Umang Gaikwad were on target for Salgaocar.…
