In a gripping finale at the DYSA ground in Curtorim on Sunday, Fatorda Veterans emerged victorious over Varca Veterans by a narrow 7-6 margin in a tie-breaker, securing the title of the 4th All Goa Veterans Football Cup organized by Batora United Curtorim. The teams had been deadlocked at 2-2 at the end of full time.
The goal-scorers for Fatorda Veterans were Mario Rebello and Francisco Andrade, while Jose Fernandes and Luis Fernandes found the net for Varca Veterans during regular play. The tie-breaker saw Fatorda Veterans exhibit superior shooting skills, ultimately claiming the Batora United Veterans Cup.
The chief guest for the occasion was Reginaldo Aleixo Lourenco, the MLA of Curtorim. The event was graced by the presence of Veena Lourenco, former ZP member, Fr Manuel, Fr Milagres Dias, Sister Jacquelina, along with other dignitaries and club officials.
Several accolades were bestowed upon deserving individuals: First Scorer: Jose Fernandes (Varca), Best Discipline Team: Football Mogi, Best Defender: Vincent Barbosa (Fatorda), Man of the Match: Francisco Andrade (Fatorda), Best Half: Raju (Varca), Promising Player: Narayan Mistry (Varca).
