St Joseph Sports Club, Shiroda won both titles at the 28th men's and women's Senior State handball championship organised by Sporting Club of Shiroda and Goa Handball Association under the patronage of the Sports Authority of Goa at church ground, Karai, Shiroda.
In the men's section, St Joseph SC defeated Nuvem Handballers by one goal, 12-11. In the third position match, Siolim Handballers defeated Siolim Legends. In the semifinals, St Joseph Sports Club defeated Siolim Legends 17-8 while Nuvem Handballers edged Siolim Handballers 21-20.
In the women's field, St Joseph Sports Club defeated Daniella Sports Club 12-4 in the finals. In the semifinals, Daniella Sports Club defeated Chubbites Bardez 6-5 while St Joseph Sports Club got a walkover from Nuvem Handballers.Individual prizes: Men - Best player - Raja Paswan (St Joseph SC, Shiroda), Best goalkeeper - Nelson Soares; Women - Best player - Stania Pires (St Joseph SC), Best goalkeeper - Nirmala Satarker (St Joseph SC).
