MARGAO: Vimson Panjim Powerplay beat Delite Titans by 80 runs in the Desserts n More Sarsangan Super Series Cricket at Arlem Cricket ground.
Electing to bat first, Vimson Panjim Powerplay lost their opener Anant Chodnekar (12) in the very 1 st over. A 51 run partnership for the 2 nd wicket between Kaushal Hattangadi 53 (30) and Sahil Adwalpalkar 18 (18 balls, 2x4s) resurrected their innings before Samar Dubashi 53 (28) along with Kaushal stitched another 55 runs for the 3rd wicket.
A sweet cameo by the wicketkeeper Laxmikant Kurade 26 (19) and Granthik Buyao 17 (12) helped Panjim Powerplay post an imposing 198-6 in 20 overs. The successful bowlers were Pradip Shetye, Nikhil Virgincar, Shailesh Mahajan and Samrudh Hegde Desai with a wicket each.
In reply, Delite Titans were off to a disastrous start as Kaushal Hattangadi removed Anish Mahambrey and Prabhakar Shetye without troubling the scorers, in the very 1 st over. The innings was steadied by a 60 run partnership for the 3 rd wicket between the skipper Deval Karmali 37 (35) and Arsh Sardesai 34 (30) as Titans reached 60-2 in 10 overs.
However, barring Avinash Kossambe 18 (13), none of the Titans batters could stand up to the innocuous bowling as they failed to reach double figures, folding up for 118 in 19.3 overs, giving a 80 run victory to the Vimson Panjim Powerplay. Rasik Pai Khot 3-13 and Nimay Kamat 3-25 were the pick of the bowlers while Kaushal Hattangadi 2-15 and Samar Dubhashi 1-25 complimented them. Their 1 st victory helped Vimson Panjim Powerplay to leapfrog to the 6 th position after 4 rounds of league matches of the Desserts n More Sarsangan Super Series.
Kaushal Hattangadi was awarded the Desserts n More Man of the Match medal and the Estilo Moderno Realty Man of the Match trophy along with a cash prize of Rs.2000 for his brilliant all round display for the Vimson Panjim Powerplay. The presentation was done by Santosh Kamat, Shravan Dubhashi, Sandeep Hattangadi, Shiraj Pai Khot, Anurag Walawalkar, Samar Dubhashi and Shwetang Kamat Ghanekar in the presence of Gomakant Mahambrey.
