Fr Mario Noronha, with a precise right-footed shot, propelled Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda into the finals of the 13th Wilred Leisure SC Cup, defeating Our Lady of Gloria Raia 1-0 in the semi-final held at DYSA ground, Currorim on Sunday.
The semi-final match drew a large crowd on Sunday, keeping all spectators on edge. Raia's Velroy Borges made a strong attempt from the box, but Fatorda's keeper Carol Soares punched it away for a corner. Meanwhile, Fatorda's striker Francisco Andrade's left-footed strike hit the pole and went out in the 26th minute of the game. At halftime, both teams remained deadlocked at 0-0.
In the second half, Raia's Eldon Colaco unleashed a powerful 30-yard shot, which deflected off Fatorda's defender Kevon Araujo in the 42nd minute, resulting in a corner kick.
The decisive goal came from Fr Mario Noronha's boot in the 58th minute of the game, with a well-placed right-footed shot from the edge of the box that found the far corner of the net, leaving Raia's goalkeeper with no chance.
Silvano Oliver of Our Lady of Gloria Raia was awarded the Man of the Match by Gajanan Shirodkar, a club member of Wilred Leisure SC, Curtorim.
