Odyssey ’12, a 3-day national level management event kickstarted yesterday with some of the top management institutes from across thenation participating in this management festival
Odyssey ’12, Odyssey 12, Goa’s biggest management festivalorganized by Saraswat BBA kicked off on Thursday at the ESG Complex Panjim,bringing in participants from Goa & beyond, for the 3-day competition whichremains the only national level management festival for business administrationat the under graduate level in Goa.
The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony included Mr.Manguirish Pai Raikar, President, Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry and DrSanthos Patkar, Principal of Sridora Caculo College of Commerce &Management Studies. Faculty Event Co-ordinator, Mr. Abishek Karmali gavecompany to Student Event Co-ordinator, Mr. Shounak Khandagale.
After some words by the dignitaries, there was theceremonial lighting of the lamp to signify an auspicious start to the event,followed by a prayer and winding up with a welcoming classical dance by thetalented students of Saraswat BBA.
By mid-afternoon the event had come down to the business endof things with rounds for marketing, human resource, finance, quiz & bestmanager all beginning simultaneously, went on till the evening of September 29,2012. The participants competing for the Best Manager competition were asked tocome up with an innovative product for the market all the while keeping in withtheme of the event. If this was the test of innovation, the marketingparticipants faced the test of perseverance in the form of a sales round.Selling products regarded as debris by making them valuable in the eyes of thejudges was not an easy task.
The Human Resource rounds began with a challenging taskwhere the participants were asked to draw a simple motivation plan followed byan intense group discussion, bringing out the different perspectives on thetopic, ‘Do Indian firms perform better as individuals rather than teams orgroups.’
With the finance rounds and quiz forming the latter part ofthe day’s proceedings, the participating college students chose to conclude Day1 and prepare themselves for the challenges of Day 2.
