Goa has once again bagged the Award for Best Value Destination (India) at Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards 2016 which was held in Mumbai, on Monday, May 9, 2016. The award ceremony saw the who’s who from the travel and entertainment industry celebrating the best of destinations, hotels and experiences.
Speaking about the award, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said “I am delighted upon receiving this award which is not only very prestigious but will also help push Goa further on the international map. Our various new tourism initiatives have been attracting tourists in large numbers. Our aim is to provide tourists with a quality experience without compromising on comfort, safety and security. Awards like these only motivate us to do better.
On this occasion, Vardhan Kondvikar, Editor of Lonely Planet Magazine India, said, “The Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards have always centred on the travellers themselves, and are voted upon by the experiential, curious, exploratory readers of the magazine. In 2016, they have again voted for their favourite destinations and experiences, which range from destinations as well-known as Goa and Switzerland to the still-unknown, like Nagaland and Peru.”
