The work on the renovation and restoration of the old municipal building which will house a public library in Mapusa was tendered and a work-order issued two months ago.
The contractor was expected to start work on the project in the first week of November. But somehow the muharat to lay the foundation stone was not materialising.
The chairperson Shubanghi Vaigankar, was keen to bring the chief minister to lay the foundation stone but the schedule of the CM was so tight that finally it was decided that the Urban Development Minister would do the honours.
In this bargain one full month was wasted just because they could not get an appointment of VIP!
Finally, when the date was fixed it was politics that came in the way yet again. With work on the new library delayed, it’s Mapusa’s people who are the real losers. But then who cares?
