After planting itself on the international music festivalscene as the 9th best dance music festival in the world, Sunburn Goa 2012 hasreturned with a synergy of music, entertainment, food and shopping on theshores of Candolim Beach.
While the three-day festival lines up renowned Indian andinternational DJs, it also attracts music tourism to Goa, and among thesepassionate music lovers are Mumbaikar sunburnites. The Goan talks to Marketingand Brand Manager Hira Mulchandani, Creative Associate Nikhil Pritmani andEngineering Student Sumeet Wadhwani “ who will be attending Sunburn Goa 2012.
While it is Nikhil’s second time at the music festival, it’sthe first for Sumeet and Hira. “I've heard my friends speak highly aboutSunburn. And I confirmed it when I looked up the past artiste line up, theparties and the crowd that was attracted to the fest. This compelled me to makethis trip,” says Sumeet.
As soon as the line-up for Sunburn Goa 2012 was announced,there were mixed reactions from the attendees. According to Nikhil, the line-upis not as vast as last year, but it’s not disappointing either. However, Hirahas different views. She says, “The line-up or artistes is very good. But sincethis is their flagship event, Sunburn should work towards getting all artistesto this festival as opposed to separate events across other cities. Forinstance, Avicci, Steve Oaki, Swedish House Mafia or Markus Schulz should havebeen performing at Sunburn rather than putting up separate events.”
Apart from Goa, Sunburn also takes place in Delhi andMumbai, but somehow doesn’t manage to attract the same numbers. Both Hira andNikhil attended Sunburn elsewhere and assert that the management should havebeen tighter. “I attended Sunburn Mumbai for one day and it was terrible.Nothing matches Goa,” says Nikhil. According to our Mumbaikars, Goa is the bestvenue for Sunburn because of the vibe. “There’s no better place for Sunburnfestival other than Goa. Goa has the perfect weather, the perfectinfrastructure and lovely beaches for any festival,” says Sumeet. Hira thinksthat Goa is easily accessible, accommodation rates are reasonable and food andbeverage is unmatchable.
Since it is Sumeet’s first ever Sunburn he admits that he isignorant about what an ideal day at Sunburn would look like. On the other hand,Hira is all set to party from 4pm to 10 pm, return to her hotel room, freshenup and party harder at Afterburn, which is Sunburn’s official after-party.
Considering that the dance music festival is taking place onthe shores of Candolim, our Mumbaikars prefer putting up close to the festivalvenue. However, no one seems to be in favour of staying in a hotel room.
Like every year, Sunburn takes place during the festiveseason and resonates its vibe even after New Year. “Goa has a lot to offer. Asof now, I’m planning to stay in Goa and bring in 2013,” says Sumeet, adding, “Iwill also visit some of the markets to pick up some souvenirs for my siblings.”On the other hand, Nikhil is looking forward to having a meal at Martins Cornerfollowed by a relaxing evening on a beach.
