Asserting that the BJP had come to power in the 2014 Lok Sabha election because of the right marketing strategy, former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Saturday said the Congress party lost the poll as its achievements during Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s rule did not reach the doorsteps of the people.
Kamat further told the Youth Congress workers that the party did not support the Goa Forward Party in
Fatorda in the 2017 Assembly election, pointing out that the Congress had fielded its candidate, Joseph Silva, in the constituency.
He was speaking at the Youth Congress programme ‘Soch Se Soch Ki Ladai’ at Fatorda on Saturday, which was also addressed by the national vice-president of Indian Youth Congress B V Srinivas. “The BJP came to power purely on its marketing plan. We were not able to market our achievements properly across the country. As a result, the BJP succeeded mesmerizing the people with their marketing strategies,” he said.
Kamat, however, exuded confidence that people have now begun to introspect over the promises made by the BJP, demanding to know whether the saffron party has succeeded in depositing Rs 15 lakh in the bank accounts of people. “The Congress party’s achievements cannot be forgotten. The party leaders have made supreme sacrifices for the country and to keep it together,” he added.
National Youth Congress Vice-president Srinivas, said that the Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi will work for every section of the society, right from the youth to the women and the poor and the down trodden.
